Advertising Claim Verification

General advertising

On our homepage and in some of our current advertising, we make the following savings claims:

"Can your household save £1,000 by switching?"

This is based on total average savings of £1,023 (assuming two mobile phone switches per household), using the following calculations:

Energy savings: £225

Energy: Average annual cost of the cheapest tariff available on Uswitch compared to the April price cap: £1,624 vs £1,849, which is a saving of £225 for dual fuel customers. Actual bill size will vary depending on your individual household consumption. Prices based on customers consuming medium energy usage as defined by Ofgem’s new Typical Domestic Consumption Values (TDCV) (2,700 kWh of electricity and 11,500kWh of gas per year), paying by direct debit, with paperless billing. Prices averaged across all regions. Prices correct as of 1 April 2025. This savings figure excludes any cashback you might be eligible for when switching.

Broadband savings: £181

Switching to a new broadband deal after your initial contract has ended could save you £181 (£180.83) a year. Based on the average 12-month out of contract cost calculated in January 2025 between Sky Superfast Broadband, Sky Full Fibre, Virgin Media M125 Ultrafast Broadband, Vodafone Fibre 2 and Vodafone Full Fibre 500 (£546.96), compared to the average yearly cost of the most popular five new deals (Sky Superfast at £357.00 per year, Sky Ultrafast Plus Broadband at £429.00, Virgin Media Ultrafast at £324.00, Vodafone Full Fibre 500 at £393.00 and Vodafone Fibre 2 at £333.00). Calculations include mid-contract price rises. Correct as of 1st January 2025.

Mobile savings: £351 per contract

Switching from an ending 24-month handset contract to a SIM only contract (and keeping your existing handset) could save you £351 (£350.95) per year, or £29.25 per month. This calculation is based on the price of the top selling 24-month handset package in January 2023 (Apple iPhone 14 with 100GB data) against the cheapest equivalent SIM only deal on the Uswitch site as of January 2025 (TalkMobile 100GB data £9.95 per month on average). Correct as of 30th January 2025.

Where we talk about how much a household can save in our advertising, we assume a household has two mobiles and so the total savings figure is £702.

Television advertising

In some of our current television advertising, we make the following claims:

The substantiation for this claim is as follows:

"You could save £351 when U switch to a SIM only mobile deal."

The substantiation for this claim is as follows:

‘More people come to us to find their energy, broadband and mobile deal than any other site’.

The substantiation for this claim can be found below.

Traffic trend of organic and paid web traffic for Uswitch.com (sourced from SimilarWeb)

From 2023 to 2024, Uswitch has consistently taken the highest proportion of paid online and organic traffic for people looking to compare and switch their energy, broadband and mobile deals.

The same evidence substantiates the individual claims:

‘More people come to us to find their broadband deal than any other site’

‘More people come to us to find their mobile deal than any other price comparison website'
