Vodafone's roaming policy depends on which plan you sign up for, as each plan includes varying levels of roaming, if any.
If your Vodafone Pay monthly plan started before 11 August 2021, then you'll likely still have EU roaming included in your monthly price without having to add any extras. However, if you joined Vodafone, upgraded, or changed your plan on or after 11 August 2021, there will likely be a daily charge for using your phone in Vodafone's European roaming zones.
However, if you have an Xtra 3 plan or one of the selected Unlimited Max Xtra 3 plans, you'll have either EU roaming or worldwide roaming included.
Where in the UK can I roam for free?
All of Vodafone’s plans (including Pay as you go and Pay as you go Plus) come with free roaming to Zone A, which includes the Republic of Ireland, Isle of Man, Iceland and Norway. This means you won’t even have to pay for an add on or extra plan to unlock your minutes, data or texts, and you can use your phone just as if you were home in the UK.

What about countries that aren’t listed?
All other countries are grouped into Vodafone’s ‘Rest of the World’ list, which is further subdivided into Zones 1, 2, 3 and 4. Vodafone currently doesn’t offer a plan that covers roaming charges for these countries, so it’s best to check with them before you go. If you make or receive calls, send or receive texts or use data while roaming here, you’ll be charged by the minute/text/MB.
Luckily, Vodafone has a handy Roaming Charge checker that explicitly states how much it’ll cost you to roam in any country. You don’t even have to be a Vodafone customer to check it out.
What else should I know about Vodafone international roaming?
As with any network, Vodafone roaming charges come with a bit of fine print.
Does Vodafone offer 5G roaming?
Yes. In fact, Vodafone offers 5G roaming in 193 locations across Europe, more than any other UK network.
Can I use tethering while roaming with Vodafone?
Yes, you can tether your mobile phone to other devices while roaming. You can turn on your phone's personal hotspot and connect devices to your phone just like you would any Wi-Fi router.
What's Vodafone's fair usage policy?
Vodafone has a Fair Usage cap of 25GB. This means that even if your standard data allowance is more than that while at home, it’s capped at 25GB when you’re roaming. If you go over it, you’ll pay the same penalties for going over as you do in the UK.
In addition, free international roaming with Vodafone is only free for a limited time. If you enjoy free roaming in any Zone for 62 days or more during any 4-month period, you may be subject to additional roaming charges. You’ll still be able to receive calls and texts, however.
