Richard Neudegg, director of regulation at Uswitch.com, said: “Millions of households are struggling with the high cost of energy, so it’s good to see this influential Committee getting into the issues behind the prices that households are paying.
“Two million households have said they plan to get through winter without using their central heating because of the high costs of energy.
“There is still a large backlog of household energy debt, built up from the crisis, which remains a crucial issue.
“Given the ongoing hardship for many, it’s understandable that MPs are looking for ways to help those in energy debt.
“Support must be targeted at those most in need, and that suppliers and regulators work together to ensure help is easy to access.”
