Ernest Doku, Uswitch mobiles expert, responds to the Virgin Media O2 price rise of £3 per month for some of its unlimited airtime plan users from tomorrow (October 1, 2025).
“From 1 October, a small group of former Virgin Mobile customers who migrated to an O2 unlimited plan upon its closure back in 2023 will be subject to a price increase of £3 per month on their mobile bill.
“As the rising cost of living continues to strain household budgets, this will be unwelcome news for affected Virgin Media O2 customers. Affected customers will also see their prices rise again come April 2026, adding another £1.80 to their monthly bill.
“While this increase only impacts a small number of customers, if you are affected and can find a better deal, you're out of contract and can switch penalty-free.
“It’s worth shopping around, as well as considering if you really need unlimited data. The average Brit uses just 10.3GB per month - so switching to a smaller usage plan could be an easy way to save money by not paying for data you don’t actually use.”
