Uswitch mobiles expert Ernest Doku comments on free international data roaming for Three customers this summer:
“Just in time for summer travel, Three UK is now offering international roaming on selected plans for new and upgrading customers.
“This is welcome news for Three customers, as the network now joins several mobile providers like O2, Lebara, and SMARTY in offering inclusive EU roaming. This marks a return to form for Three, who were historically known for its generous roaming policies before many providers reintroduced charges post-Brexit.
“Three customers should carefully review their plan’s terms and conditions to confirm whether free roaming is included, as it is not available on Three’s cheaper ‘Lite’ plans.
“Staying connected while abroad allows travellers to make the most of their trips - no one wants to run out of data or end up with a big roaming bill when they return home.
“If your provider doesn’t offer free international roaming, it’s important to check your provider's policies when you travel and remain cautious when using data abroad.
“You could also consider a travel eSIM, which allows you to connect to a local network without a physical SIM card. These are often a lot cheaper than providers' roaming charges or add-ons, especially outside of Europe.”
