Mobile and broadband providers are offering perks worth up to £549[1] this year, according to Uswitch.com, the comparison and switching service.

Ahead of April’s annual price rises, which will add a combined average of £37.89[2] per year to mobile and broadband bills for many, consumers will be looking to get the most value out of their contracts.

Given the variety of perks available, Uswitch telecoms expert Simrat Sharma has compiled the best rewards offered by networks, with top benefits including free memberships to EatLocal and Local Blend, regular prize draws for chances to win cash, holidays and Glastonbury tickets and inclusive roaming.

For entertainment fans, several mobile providers are offering free or discounted streaming subscriptions including:

  • Prime: Free subscription with O2’s Ultimate Plan, which normally costs £8.99 per month saving you £95 per year
  • Amazon Audible: Free subscription with O2’s Ultimate Plan which normally costs £7.99 per month, worth £95.88 per year
  • Netflix Standard: subscription for just £4.99 per month with EE, versus the regular price of £10.99, offering £72 in savings per year

For those who prefer making a night of it and going to the cinema, Vodafone customers can claim 2 tickets for £8 or 4 tickets for £16 with ODEON, while Three customers can purchase cinema tickets for as little as £3.

Frequent travellers can take advantage of inclusive roaming offers from phone contract providers. O2 offers free roaming in 49 destinations, and Three’s Go Roam offer allows customers to call, text and use their data in up to 160 destinations worldwide.

Simrat Sharma, telecoms expert at Uswitch.com, comments: “If you’re looking to get the most out of your mobile and broadband contracts, there are plenty of great perks and rewards to take advantage of.

“From discounted cinema tickets to free subscription services, these benefits can really add up. If you’re already using these services, it’s worth doing your research to see if you can access them at a lower cost by bundling them into your mobile or broadband plan.

“For example, O2 is offering free roaming in 49 destinations, exclusive perks such as VIP experiences with Priority with O2 and Hiya - an AI-powered spam fighting tool. These benefits can make a significant difference, especially for frequent travellers.

“Similarly, Sky Mobile has consistently impressed its users with a range of valuable benefits. It was chosen by the public as the ‘Best Network for Perks’ in last year’s Uswitch Telecoms Awards, due to its practical features like data rollover and free mobile data streaming of Sky TV content.

“To get the most out of your broadband, TalkTalk is offering a limitless referral scheme with a £50 gift card as a reward, an easy way to make some extra cash. For those looking for a Wi-Fi guarantee where they can enjoy minimum download speeds of at least 30Mbps, Virgin Media is providing this for free (usually £8 per month) with £100 bill credit if not up to speed.

“When considering switching providers, don’t get too side-tracked by additional perks. Bundling services can lead to savings, but as a priority ensure the package meets your needs in terms of data, coverage, and minutes.”
