BINGE SEASON: USWITCH LAUNCHES ‘USTREAM’ TOOL TO HELP SAVVY STREAMERS SAVE MONEY ON UNNECESSARY SUBSCRIPTIONS
As nights draw in and binge season begins, Uswitch announces new tool, ‘Ustream’ to help TV addicts save money on unnecessary subscriptions
Recent data reveals 11 million Brits signed up to streaming services last year, an increase of 55% since 2019[1]
Over a quarter of households (26%) say they only watch TV online and almost half (44%) have more than one streaming service[2]
Netflix is Britain's most popular streaming platform with half (49%) of adults using the service[3]
Uswitch.com’s new tool Ustream includes many of the UK’s most watched shows, helping Brits know when and where to watch their favourite series and avoid paying for subscriptions they never use.
With autumn officially here, TV addicts around the UK are settling down on the sofa to watch their favourite TV shows. To help Brits make the most of their many streaming subscriptions, Uswitch.com, the comparison and switching service, has launched the ‘Ustream’ tool allowing users to plan when and where to watch, as well as save money on unnecessary subscriptions.
Recent data from telecoms regulator Ofcom revealed that 11 million Brits signed up for a streaming service subscription in 2020 - a whopping 55% increase since 2019.[1]
Over a quarter of households (26%) admit they rely solely on the internet to stream their favourite shows[2], and almost half (44%) of TV fans juggle multiple streaming service subscriptions[2].
‘Ustream’ helps watchers map their viewing calendar by choosing their favourite shows and selecting the amount of hours they want to binge per day. A handy colour-coded calendar shows when and where to watch their desired content, telling users which subscriptions they need and the most cost-effective way to watch.
The tool includes the UK’s favourite platforms including Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, Britbox, BBC iPlayer, NOW and Apple TV.
Catherine Hiley, TV and Streaming Expert at Uswitch.com, comments: “Ten years ago, Netflix hadn’t even launched in the UK and now it’s the most popular streaming platform, with half of all UK households subscribed.
“A decade on, more and more streaming services are emerging, such as NOW and Disney+ and with many of the platforms producing some great original content, it’s no surprise that we’re all signing up to get a load of the action.
“We want to make sure consumers aren't paying for subscriptions they don't need this autumn. Having the ability to plan your nights on the sofa using a single tool will not only give you peace of mind that you’ll have great content available, but also that you’re not breaking the bank to watch your favourite shows.”
