Ernest Doku, mobiles expert at Uswitch.com, commented: “The arrival of the Nord CE 5G comes a few months after the launch of the flagship OnePlus 9, but it’s worth the wait if you’re looking for powerful specs at a cheaper price.
“At only £299, the Nord CE 5G is less than half the cost of its premium stablemate, but it still boasts a 64MP triple camera, 16MP selfie snapper, and 6.43-inch 90Hz screen.
“OnePlus handsets are growing in popularity, but the absence of a full range of mobile networks offering contracts with these devices is slightly limiting the brand’s UK reach.
“However, it plays nicely into their avid Android fanbase and direct-to-consumer strategy - and buying a reasonably priced phone like the Nord CE 5G and pairing it with a SIM-only deal means you could save hundreds of pounds in the long run.
“Away from the glitz and fanfare as Apple and Samsung launch £1,000-plus smartphones, there’s another battle raging for the mid-tier market.
“OnePlus, Oppo and Xiaomi keep unveiling impressive devices at reasonable prices, and it will be interesting to see who wins the hearts and minds of cost-conscious consumers.”
