Brits value their time at £205.50 an hour, the equivalent to a return flight from London-Egypt, 401 Mars Bars and 37 bottles of Echo Falls, a recent study has found.

According to the research, Brits will do all they can to avoid chores, as 1 in 3 people would pay someone £200 to offload them. 42% wish that they could click their fingers to clean the oven, 35% to change their bedsheets and 1 in 5 even put off taking out the rubbish.

When it comes to cleaning out the fridge, 1 in 3 women wish they could do it in one click in comparison to just 23% of men thinking the same. There is however, a mutual dislike of one common household chore, with both 1 in 5 men and women saying they would do the laundry in one click if they could.

The recent study carried out by the comparison and switching service, Uswitch.com celebrates the launch of its new service, One Click Switch, which helps customers switch their energy faster and more easily than ever before.

The Uswitch study reveals what else people across the nation would change in just one click of their fingers.

Britain's least loved chores: the top 10 chores Brits wish they could do in one click

Half the nation would click their fingers for financial security if they could, 34% would end the pandemic, 28% would transport themselves to a Caribbean beach and over a third would switch an ex-partner in one click. More than a third of Brits (35%) would even click their fingers to go back to 2019 if they could.

While over a third of the nation (40%) think of themselves as a resourceful and organised (39%), more than a quarter say they would like to switch their energy or broadband supplier in one click if they could - and 16% would switch their car insurance.

The study also sheds light on why Brits might be so eager to change things in one click. 80% say they value their free time greatly yet only half of Brits say they actually manage to make the most of this free time.

Denise Van Outen, who is fronting Uswitch's One Click Switch launch, says:

“Juggling work and home life has never been as tricky as it is now and there are so many things that I wish I could do in one click - whether it’s playing an educational game with Betsy or getting mine and the families diaries organised as I'm so busy!”

Commenting on the research, Uswitch energy expert Sarah Broomfield says

“It’s interesting to see what the nation would switch in one click if they could and we empathise with many of their least favourite chores.

“We can’t help with switching an ex-partner but we can help customers get onto a cheaper energy deal, with our new One Click Switch service that takes the hassle out of switching.

“Brits also say they value their time at £205 an hour, but you could actually switch supplier in just minutes and save an average of £387*.”

Research methodology
An online survey was conducted by Atomik Research among 2,004 respondents from the UK. The research fieldwork took place on 28th August – 1st September 2020. Atomik Research is an independent creative market research agency that employs MRS-certified researchers and abides to MRS code.
Comparing 12 months of returning users who have Uswitch accounts and switched previously, 90% of returning account switchers reviewing the search results page would have had the option to switch to at least one supplier in a single click after selecting their chosen tariff.
