Ernest Doku, mobiles expert at Uswitch.com, comments:

“After months of uncertainty over the future of Britain’s 5G infrastructure, it’s reassuring to hear some good news with Nokia sealing a deal to pick up some of the slack as Huawei leaves the scene.

“This won’t be a quick fix, but it is encouraging to see BT taking the steps to ensure we don’t fall further behind, when it comes to building the next generation of infrastructure.

“Uptake of 5G is at a tipping point, with around a quarter (26%) of consumers saying they plan to have a contract with the fifth-generation connectivity within the next year[1].

“If consumers are going to take the plunge with 5G, they need to trust that the infrastructure will be in place to make their investment worthwhile.”
