Nick Baker, TV and broadband expert at Uswitch.com, comments: “It’s been a strange year for football and it feels like only yesterday that Liverpool won the Premier League.
“Millions of fans will be contemplating a season spent watching from home, as it will be October at the earliest when stadiums will be allowed to welcome some supporters back.
“Armchair supporters get to watch an extra 20 games live on television - in addition to the usual 200 a season - but it may still not be enough for die-hard fans used to seeing their team every week.
“Cost-conscious supporters can watch all televised games this season for as little as £639. By signing up to Plusnet Broadband and pairing it with a NOW TV Sky Sports monthly pass as well as Amazon Prime Video, you can save over £450 compared to the bundled deals from TV providers.
“BT Sport’s Big Sport package is currently £40, which includes BT Sport and Sky Sports channels, but comes with a 24-month contract and you’ll also need to add a broadband package starting at £24.99
“Sky Sports’ equivalent costs £39, but doesn’t include the BT Sport channels, making it a more expensive alternative if you want both. Adding on the BT Sport channels will add £22 to the monthly bill. Both the Sky Sports Premier League and BT Sport channels are on rolling contracts, so you can cancel them come the end of the season and reduce your monthly bill.
“For supporters who crave an ultrafast broadband connection, Virgin Media supplies speeds of 213Mbps as well as a package that allows you to watch all the games on one platform for £65.
“For casual fans, NOW TV’s Sky Sports daily passes are only £9.99, which gets you access to 11 Sky Sports channels and are perfect for watching a big game with friends.
“Keep an eye out for deals as the start of the season nears, as many broadcasters may lower prices closer to the season’s kick-off.”
