Ernest Doku, mobiles expert at Uswitch.com, says: “BT’s announcement is another meaningful step towards taking 5G connectivity mainstream.

“BT previously only offered 5G to users of its Halo bundled mobile and broadband plan, but these tariffs – starting at £45 a month for a OnePlus 7 Pro 5G – could bring the tech to a wider audience.

“This move makes 5G a possibility for you if you live in 50 towns and cities including London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester and Edinburgh.

“If you’re considering making the leap to 5G, first check what coverage you can expect – both at your home and place of work – by going to the provider’s website.

“Also bear in mind that 5G is a hungry beast when it comes to gobbling data, so it’s worth looking for the unlimited data tariffs offered by some providers.”
