Commenting on the close of Ofcom’s second end-of-contract notification consultation, Richard Neudegg, head of regulation at Uswitch.com, says: “The good news for consumers is that Ofcom seems determined to push ahead and introduce these end of contract notifications this year.
“As it stands, broadband and mobile customers are overpaying by £40 every second due to a fundamental lack of information about when their contracts are due to end.
“Now Ofcom’s second consultation on this has closed, the impetus is firmly with Ofcom to deliver these notifications in a way that alerts households in a timely and relevant manner that their contract is about to end and that they could be saving by looking at other services.
“This is even more important for the millions of broadband customers who are suffering from poor speeds and are stuck on old technology, when they could be upgrading to faster services and actually paying less.
“In light of this, the sooner these notifications come into force, the better the landscape is for consumers.”
