Commenting on the BEIS Select Committee’s questioning of the roll-out of smart meters, Head of Regulation at Uswitch.com, Richard Neudegg, said:

“It sounds like the Government is finally admitting that it might need to review the smart meter roll-out plan. But it’s taken a catalogue of errors, a damning report from the National Audit Office, and a grilling from MPs to get to this stage – and we won’t know until July whether the plan will actually be changed.

“Smart meters have the potential to bring real benefits for UK households, but for faith to be restored in the programme the timetable needs to be realistic, communications need to be clear and honest and consumers need to know that they will still have a working smart meter if they switch supplier.”
