Commenting on the Government’s £6 billion package to help end fuel poverty and make low income homes more energy efficient, Richard Neudegg, Head of Regulation at Uswitch.com, says:

“We have long been calling for the Government to provide more targeted support for those who struggle with their energy bills, and so the news that the Government is considering reform to the Warm Home Discount and Energy Company Obligation is welcome.

“However, eligibility for the Warm Home Discount urgently needs to be simplified and consistent across all suppliers, so that people in need of help are not put off by the complexity of the criteria or some quirk of administration.”
