Commenting on Ofgem’s retail energy market indicators that show a record number of people have switched to small and medium suppliers, Claire Osborne, energy expert at Uswitch.com, says:
“It’s fantastic that a record number of people are taking control of their energy bill and switching supplier for a better deal. In our recent customer satisfaction report, challenger suppliers stormed to the top of the rankings, leaving the big six languishing at the bottom of the table.
“With more and more people switching energy supplier to a wider range of suppliers, it is a clear reminder that any widespread price cap must not hamper this increasing and welcome level of competition. By switching supplier people can save an average of £290, far in excess of anything a cap would be able to provide.”
