Commenting on the publication of the Government’s Cost of Energy review, Head of Regulation at Uswitch.com, Richard Neudegg says:
“Consumers ultimately care about how much they pay for their electricity. While it’s sensible to highlight policy costs as well as generation, supply, and usage costs it’s important not to reach for solutions that may only serve to push up household bills as a consequence.
“It won’t be news to consumers that this report suggests energy costs in the UK are too high given the increases we’ve seen on bills. The government should think seriously about where greater efficiencies in upstream costs could be made, while ensuring a genuinely competitive market to ensure improvements are passed onto customers.”
