Commenting on the increase in complaints about banks released by the Financial Ombudsman today, Tom Lyon, money expert at Uswitch.com, says: “It is unacceptable that the quality of banks’ services to customers is still clearly declining. A 13% increase in complaint figures compared to the last six months of 2016 is disappointing, particularly for those who bank with Lloyds and its businesses which are at the top of the list.
“It’s not surprising that PPI continues to be the most complained-about issue. Banks need to be doing everything they can to ensure their customers are correctly compensated.
“This is a red flag for consumers to look at their options when it comes to who they bank with, and if necessary vote with their feet. Switching is easier than ever before, and there are some great deals on the market at the moment. For example, First Direct will currently give you £100 for switching to them and others such as TSB, Nationwide and Santander offer a range of incentives including cashback, rewards and free overdrafts.”
