Commenting on the latest energy market data from Ofgem – which shows a slight increase in average big six supplier profits per customer and a fall in the number of households on expensive Standard Variable Tariffs – Uswitch.com energy expert Emma Bush says:

“It’s great to see the number of energy customers stuck on poor value deals continuing to fall, showing that consumers are really waking up to the benefits of switching.

“With price rises announced by all of the big six energy companies this year, any news of profits increasing is likely to go down like a lead balloon with their customers.

“The difference between the average big six standard tariff and the cheapest deal on the market today is an immense £327, and with more and more people switching away from expensive deals suppliers need to up their game and make sure their customers are not paying more than they need to – otherwise they will continue to vote with their feet.”
