Commenting on Ofcom’s reports on the coverage of UK communications services, Ernest Doku, mobiles expert at Uswitch.com says:“When it comes to the UK’s digital infrastructure, the cart is a long way ahead of the horse.

“The advent of 5G draws ever closer, which seems extraordinary when a third of the UK’s geography can’t even get call signal from all four networks.

“It’s a bitter irony for anyone living in a coverage blackspot, who’d gladly settle for a voice call let alone 5G.

“The massive leap in indoor 4G coverage is laudable, but the desire to see more geographic coverage to effectively connect between the areas where people work, live and socialise is an aspiration we all share.

“Vodafone and EE have publicly promoted their intentions around improving geographic coverage for voice and text services, which might be heartening but also reminds us there’s a long road to travel.

“Ofcom’s coverage app is useful, and consumers should use this to arm themselves with the information they need to switch provider if their signal isn’t what they need, where they need it most.”
