Commenting on BBC data that reveals 600 bank branches have closed in the last year, Tashema Jackson, money expert at Uswitch.com, says; “If people don’t have a branch on their local high street, it’s critical that their online experience is hassle-free. Banks must work harder to help those who are not so digitally savvy and follow the example set by other industries to constantly innovate to help consumers manage their money.

“Our research shows that banks seem to be missing the mark when it comes to catering to their customers’ needs. For example, consumers tell us banks and credit card providers usually communicate with them via post, when they would actually prefer to be emailed or texted. If the high street banks don’t rise to the challenge, they could see the new digital banks, such as Atom or Mondo, lure their customers away.”
