Yet despite record numbers of switchers, it is still a drop in the ocean compared to the millions of current account customers.
“Many people are aware that there are savings to be had by switching current accounts, but uncertainty for those with overdraft facilities about whether their new account will provide a similar buffer, means many are reluctant to switch.
“What’s been clear throughout the Competition and Markets Authority’s retail banking market investigation is that the industry could do more to remove the remaining barriers to switching.”
