Following Apple’s announcement today that the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus will go on sale in stores from 8am on Friday, Ernest Doku, technology expert at Uswitch.com, says: “Last year’s iPhone launch was tainted by ‘bendgate’ as some new owners found that keeping their phones in their pockets resulted in a curved handset – of the accidental variety.

“It could explain why the stronger glass and aluminium body has been voted for as the best new feature of the iPhone 6s by more than a quarter (26%) of Brits, followed by its improved processor (18%) and 3D Touch screen (17%).

“Although a fifth (20%) think the iPhone 6s is a massive improvement on last year’s iPhone 6, they are outweighed by the 29% who think it’s only a slight improvement – but despite this, they still want to own one.

“What could scupper the success of the iPhone 6s is its limited battery life. Almost two thirds (61%) say the smaller battery life compared to last year’s iPhone 6 will affect their decision to get the new iPhone. Long battery life tops the list as the most important feature or function of a smartphone (77%).

“That said, based on previous years, queues will start to form outside Apple’s flagship stores any time from today onwards – and there’s plenty of Twitter hype about the new rose gold version of the iPhone. And if anyone can convince people they need the most expensive new smartphone on the market, it’s Tim Cook’s crack team.”
