Ofgem today announced updates to its Confidence Code for price comparison websites. Commenting on the news, a Uswitch.com spokesman says: “We have worked alongside Ofgem to help shape the new Confidence Code and believe it further strengthens consumer trust in price comparison websites as the best way to save money on energy bills. The new Code is fully in line with our ongoing plans to develop our service so consumers can continue to compare tariffs in a simple, transparent, fair, independent and unbiased way.
“We have been calling for some time for all price comparison websites and collective switching schemes to be Confidence Code compliant, so strongly welcome Ofgem’s decision to look at extending its scheme. To maintain high levels of consumer protection and help more people engage with the energy market, we believe it’s vital that everyone operates to the same high standards of practice.”
