Commenting on the news that Vodafone has struck a deal to offer Sky’s NowTV services to its mobile customers, Rob Kerr**, mobiles expert at [Uswitch.com](/mobiles/), says**: “For the networks that can’t brag about being number one for 4G coverage, one way to stand out is by offering better perks. Vodafone’s addition of Sky’s NowTV is a good incentive for those who want to make the leap to 4G and get the most out of their super-fast speeds and high-spec handsets.

“By adding TV to its Big Red service, which already includes Spotify and Netflix, Vodafone has massively strengthened its offering – but there is one small issue. Can you actually get it on the go?

“Vodafone’s 4G coverage isn’t as widespread as EE which means users in so-called 4G not-spots may find quality is patchy. Further investment needs to be made to its 4G coverage area, before offering the icing on the cake.

“We’ve heard the rumours of Sky partnering with Vodafone to offer a mobile phone network, so perhaps this move is only phase one of the alleged new tie-up. This would cement Sky as a ‘quad-play’ provider – offering TV, broadband, telephone and mobile – rivalling Virgin Media.

“An additional player to the scene could make quad-play bundles even more competitive, and potentially bring cheaper prices to the market.”
