Commenting on **Vodafone’s 4G roaming announcement, revealing that its customers can use 4G in 23 destinations overseas**, Rob Kerr, mobiles** expert at [Uswitch.com](/mobiles/), says**: “Roaming is still a big issue for mobile users travelling outside the EU in particular. A third of Brits have no idea of their network’s roaming charges, which can vary wildly from country to country, before they travel. All this leaves people vulnerable to bill shock.

“Vodafone’s 4G roaming offer, which could take some of the sting out of the tail, comes too late to have any impact on summer holidaymakers, but should benefit some thinking of jetting off in search of winter sun.

“However, it’s not free to roam in Vodafone’s chosen 23 destinations. For the privilege, you have to pay up to £5 per day extra for using your tariff’s minutes, texts and data.

“That’s £70 for a 14-day trip abroad outside the EU, which seems quite steep in contrast to Three’s Feel At Home, which allows customers to use their tariffs and roam in 16 destinations at no extra cost.”
