Commenting on the launch of the HTC Desire Eye, Robb Kerr, mobiles expert atUswitch.com, says: “HTC has eyed up the competition for Christmas, and unleashed what can only be described as the ultimate selfie phone on the market right now.

“No other mobile maker has yet added a whopping 13 megapixel camera to the front of a mass-market phone, so this handset could well feature under a few trees this year.

“We’ve not seen the UK pricing but the Desire series is traditionally priced below the HTC One range, and as this doesn’t have the premium metal design of the Ones, it should carry a lower cost.

“But fitting in front and rear 13 megapixel cameras, a top quality screen and a quad core processor, it doesn’t seem befitting to the distinctly mid-range Desire series – as all these specs are more suited to a flagship phone.

“If priced right, the launch of the Desire Eye could be HTC’s smartest move yet – an affordable phone, with flagship features, targeted at a younger market – just as we head towards the present buying time of year.”
