How many Octopus EV tariffs are there?

Octopus currently offers three EV tariffs that customers who want to charge their electric vehicles at home can sign up to.

Octopus Go

Octopus's original EV tariff enables customers to get five hours of cheaper energy every night to charge their car up.

Intelligent Octopus Go

With Intelligent Octopus Go, the supplier charges your car up at times when energy is at its cheapest to save you as much as possible.

Intelligent Drive Pack

This is an add-on to an existing home energy tariff where customers pay an extra monthly subscription fee for unlimited smart EV charging.

How do Octopus EV tariffs work?

These smart EV tariffs work via an app which customers can download. They can then select the time they need their car by and the amount of charge they need, and Octopus's systems will charge at the cheapest times.

Do I need a smart meter to sign up to an Octopus EV tariff?

Yes - you'll need a smart meter to sign up to most (if not all) EV tariffs because suppliers need to be certain that they're charging you the right rate for the different time periods.

Is any vehicle eligible for an Octopus EV tariff?

Any vehicle will work with the Octopus Go tariff but there are some that won't work with the Intelligent Octopus Go tariff. It's best to check on the supplier's website before you sign up.
